New York Times’ Vulture announced their annual Most Valuable Stars list and Anna made it onto the list for the first time!
Anna Kendrick – The Songbird
It’s rare these days that a young actress gets to lead a film franchise with no YA link, but Kendrick’s managed the unlikely task thanks to the sleeper hit Pitch Perfect, which will be sequelized next May. Unafraid to carve out a niche as a musical ingenue, she’ll also warble in this winter’s star-packed Into the Woods, and she was fabulous, too, in the romantic musical tragedy The Last 5 Years, which the Weinsteins will perversely distribute on Valentine’s Day.

Deadline is reporting that Tim Roth and rapper RZA have joined Anna and Sam Rockwell in “Mr. Right“. The production will start next week in New Orleans.
Tim Roth is the latest major casting piece to fall into place for Mr. Right, the action-comedy-romance being helmed by Paco Cabezas (Neon Flesh) from a Max Landis script. Sam Rockwell and Anna Kendrick lead the story of a woman whose unlucky streak in love seemingly ends when she meets the perfect guy, who turns out to be a hitman. Rapper RZA recently joined the cast as a rival marksman and Roth will play Hopper, Mr. Right’s former mentor turned nemesis, as filming commences next week in New Orleans. Amasia Entertainment’s Michael Helfant and Bradley Gallo are producing with Circle of Confusion’s Lawrence Mattis and Rick Jacobs. Stephen Emery and Landis are exec producers. Roth’s recent films include Grace of Monaco and Arbitrage, and the Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs thesp will next appear in Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming Western The Hateful Eight, MLK drama Selma, and Michel Franco’s Chronic. He’s repped by CAA and Markham, Froggatt and Irwin in the UK.

THR is reporting that “The Voices“, which premiered at Sundance and also screened at TIFF, found a distributor for the UK.
U.K. and Irish audiences will get to sample Ryan Reynolds’ brush with dark, schizophrenic satire, as distributor Arrow Films has secured the rights to black comedy The Voices.
Financial details weren’t disclosed.
Directed by Marjane Satrapi, the Iranian author and filmmaker behind animation film Persepolis, The Voices stars Reynolds as a troubled, med-addicted factory worker driven to murder by his talking pets, a psychopathic cat called Mr. Whiskers and Bosco, his peace-loving dog. Reynolds also voices both of the animals, while Jacki Weaver, Gemma Arterton and Anna Kendrick play the women unfortunate enough to cross his path.
The film, which was written by Michael R. Perry and sat on the Black List, premiered in Sundance in January and recently screened in Toronto. It was shot in Germany and produced by 1984 Private Defense Contractors, Mandalay Vision, Studio Babelsberg and Vertigo Entertainment.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter when the film screened at Sundance London in April, Satrapi described Reynolds as a Ferrari who so far had been used in films as if it was a Peugeot. “There’s so much more there than they show of him. He can do anything, but I didn’t know he was this talented, because I know him like everybody else,” she said.
Arrow Films hasn’t confirmed a release date but told THR it would have to wait until the U.S. release set for Valentine’s Day 2015. “But maybe slightly after, as 50 Shades opens on that date,” the company said.
Lionsgate has the U.S. rights for The Voices, while Remstar acquired the film for Canada.
